Special Primary Public Service Commissioner Special Election

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. §21-2-291 and §21-2-325, notice is hereby given that the City of Nelson Special Election scheduled for June 17th, 2025, is cancelled. The following candidate has qualified for office and are unopposed:

City Council: Elisa Marathas

The above unopposed candidate shall be deemed to have voted for himself/ herself.

Pickens County Elections and Registration

Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-540, a special election shall be held in Pickens County to fill the vacancy in the office of City Council, caused by the resignation of John Ahlberg. The special election will be held on June 17, 2025.

Qualifying for the special election shall be held at the Pickens County Board of
Elections & Registration, 3100 Camp Road, Suite B, Jasper GA 30143 beginning at 8:30 am on May 5, 2025, and ending at 4:30 pm on May 7, 2025. The qualifying fee shall be $25.00.

All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the special election may register to vote through the close of business on May 19, 2025. Early voting will be held at the Pickens County Rec Center, 1329 Camp Road, Jasper GA 30143 starting May 27th, 2025 at 8:00 am and ending at 5:00 pm on June 13th, 2025. On Election Day you may cast your vote at your assigned precinct during the hours of 7:00 am until 7:00 pm.
