NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on November 4, 2025 an election will be held at the regular polling places in all the election districts of Pickens County, Georgia, at which time there will be submitted to the qualified voters of Pickens County for their determination the question of whether to provide a homestead exemption from Pickens County school district ad valorem taxes for educational purposes in the amount of $40,000.00 of the assessed value of the homestead for residents of that school district who are 62 years of age or older and whose income does not exceed $40.000.00.
The ballots to be used at such election shall have written or printed thereon substantially the following:

Shall the Act be approved which provides a homestead exemption from Pickens County school district ad valorem taxes for educational purposes in the amount of $40,000 of the assessed value of the homestead for residents of that school district who are 62 years of age or older and whose income does not exceed $40,000.
The several places for holding said election shall be at the regular and established voting precincts of the election districts of Pickens County, Georgia, and the polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the date fixed for the election.
The last day to register to vote in this election shall be October 6, 2025, through 5:00 p.m.
All residents of Pickens County qualified to vote at such election shall be determined in all respects in accordance with the election laws of the State of Georgia.
This notice is given pursuant to Act 342, HB 841 signed into law by the Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia on May 14, 2025, requiring a local referendum.
